During the webinar, attendees heard about a new report, Update on Public Sector Employee Views on Finances and Employment Outlook Due to COVID-19: May vs. October 2020.
This national survey from the Center for State and Local Government Excellence at ICMA-RC (SLGE) finds that the pandemic and economic crisis are taking a heavy toll on the state and local workforce. The research measures employee sentiment on a range of issues including COVID-19 and financial concerns, along with job and benefit satisfaction.
The session also provided a review of a related report, K-12 Public School Employee Views on Finances, Employment Outlook, and Safety Concerns Due to COVID-19. This study finds that K-12 employee job satisfaction has plummeted, and more public education professionals could leave their jobs at a time when many state and local governments are struggling to recruit and retain teachers.
