Almost nine in 10 Americans believe workers should participate in a defined benefit plan, according to a phone survey on behalf of the National Institute on Retirement Security, Washington.

Of the 801 workers surveyed, 87% said all workers should participate in a defined benefit plan and 55% of those without pensions said having a retirement plan would ease their anxiety about retirement.
